Patreon Username Checker

By FreeUsername · Reviewed October 14, 2026 · Editorial policy

On Patreon, the name people mean by "username" is your creator page URL, the part after patreon.com/. Creators choose it; member accounts cannot customize theirs. Patreon now serves many creator pages at patreon.com/cw/name. Enter a name below for a Patreon username search.

Patreon username rules

Who can pick one	Creator pages can set a custom URL. Member-only accounts have not been able to customize their URL since April 3, 2019.
Uniqueness	Custom URLs are claimed first come, first served.
Length and characters	Patreon's help center does not publish length or character limits; the page settings tell you when a URL is not accepted.
Changes	A new URL takes effect immediately. Members and messages stay, but your old URL does not redirect.
Page address	Creator pages are served at patreon.com/cw/name; patreon.com/name forwards there for many creators.

How to search for someone on Patreon by username

Open patreon.com/name, and if that redirects, patreon.com/cw/name. Patreon's guide to finding creators says you can search for a specific creator or browse the Explore tab. Creators also link their page from their other profiles.

Only creators have a page to find. Members who just support others do not have a public URL, and this page does not look up real names.

How to check a Patreon username

Type the URL part only, for example mia for patreon.com/mia.
We load patreon.com/<name>. A clear page gives Found and a 404 gives Not found. Many creator pages now forward to patreon.com/cw/<Name>, sometimes with different capitals, and our check does not follow that forward, so it reports Unknown. Open the link to see the page.
By hand, open patreon.com/<name> and then patreon.com/cw/<name> in a private window.
The page settings in your creator dashboard are the final test. Patreon refuses a URL that another page already uses.

Patreon username taken? What you can do

Add what you make: miadraws, miapodcast or miacomics. Patrons often find you from a video or post, so a descriptive URL is easy to remember.
Patreon has no process for releasing URLs from inactive pages; its help center only repeats that URLs are first come, first served.
If a page pretends to be you or your brand, report it. Patreon's guidelines ban deceptively using another person's name, username or photos, or falsely claiming to be their official page.
For an intellectual property problem, Patreon's support form has an Intellectual Property Claim option.

How to change your Patreon username

Open your creator dashboard and go to Home.
Select the three-dot menu, then Page details, then Basics.
Edit Your Patreon URL and select Save changes. The new URL is live right away.
Replace the old link everywhere you shared it, because Patreon does not redirect it.

Reserved and restricted names

Patreon does not publish a list of reserved URLs. Its community guidelines prohibit impersonation, including using someone else's name or username to pose as their official page. Parody and fan pages are allowed when they say clearly what they are.

Tips

Match your Patreon URL to the handle you use on YouTube, Twitch or your podcast, so fans can guess it.
Because old links break on a change, settle the URL before you put it in video descriptions or printed merch.
Patreon also supports custom domains for creator pages if you would rather send fans to your own address.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my Patreon URL?

Yes, if you have a creator page: Home, then the three-dot menu, Page details, Basics, Your Patreon URL. The change is immediate.

Does Patreon redirect my old URL?

No. Patreon says changing your URL does not affect your members or messages, but it does not redirect the old URL.

Why does the checker say Unknown for a Patreon page that exists?

Patreon forwards many creator pages from patreon.com/name to patreon.com/cw/Name. Our single request sees the forward, not the page, so we report Unknown rather than guess. Open the link to confirm.

Can I customize my Patreon URL as a member?

No. Since April 3, 2019 only creator pages can set a custom URL.
