How platform username rules differ

Every platform sets its own rules, so a handle that works on one site can be rejected on another. Length limits vary (some allow 30 characters, others 15 or fewer), and so do the allowed characters: some accept dots and underscores, some only one of them, a few allow neither. Case usually doesn't matter for lookups, but display names and handles are often different things. Sites also differ on how often you can change a name and whether old names are released for others to claim. The table below collects the rules we could check against each platform's help pages; each checker page has the full list and sources.

YouTube	3 to 30 characters for Latin-script handles (Han/Hangul: 1-10; Ethiopic, Hiragana and Katakana: 2-20).	Letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, periods and the Latin middle dot. Symbols cannot be the first or last character.
Discord	At least 2 and at most 32 characters.	Latin letters a-z, numbers 0-9, underscore and period. No other symbols and no non-Latin characters.
Roblox	3 to 20 characters, per a Roblox developer forum announcement.	Letters, numbers and one underscore, which cannot be at the start or end (same announcement).
Twitch	At least 4 characters. Twitch's rename article does not state a maximum.	,
GitHub	GitHub's docs describe a 39-character limit for usernames.	Alphanumeric characters and single hyphens only.
Snapchat	3 to 15 characters.	Latin letters, numbers, and one of -, _ or . (no other special characters).
Reddit	The sign-up form asks for 3 to 20 characters using letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores; Reddit's help center does not list these limits.	,

eBay	6 to 64 characters, with no spaces or tabs.	Letters, numbers, and the star (*), hyphen, dot and underscore. No two underscores in a row, and a username cannot start with an underscore, hyphen or dot.
Facebook	At least 5 characters. Facebook's help center does not publish a maximum.	Letters A-Z, numbers 0-9 and periods. Facebook says non-Latin characters may be supported later.
LinkedIn	3 to 100 characters.	Letters and numbers. LinkedIn says no spaces, symbols or special characters.
Tumblr	Up to 32 characters.	Letters, numbers and hyphens.
Quora	Not published in Quora's help center.	Profanity, slurs, sexually explicit language, phone numbers and email addresses. Titles such as Dr. and degrees such as PhD go in a credential, not the name.
VK	5 to 32 characters.	Latin letters a-z, numbers 0-9, single underscores and dots.
Flickr	Not published in Flickr's help center.	,
DeviantArt	3 to 20 characters.	Letters A-Z and a-z, numbers 0-9 and hyphens. No spaces, no names made only of numbers, and no hyphen at the start or end.
